Kate Van Doren, MA, ATR

Kate Van Doren has more than 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Since beginning her practice in 1997 she has provided counseling services in multiple settings with children, adults, couples, and families. Settings have included residential in-patient facilities for youth, psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinical treatment facilities and private practice. Her work has encompassed eating disorder and drug rehabilitation as well as extensive work with the elderly. She is also trained in hospice care, bereavement therapy, cognitive therapy, art therapy, mindfulness and dialectical behavior therapy. She has created and implemented multiple therapeutic interventions, and has provided supervision in various settings throughout her career. Kate holds a Master’s degree in both Art Therapy and Psychotherapy from Marylhurst University, Portland Oregon and is a professional registered art therapist with the Art Therapy Credentials Board. She is Also a fine artist and provides art consultation and mentorships to art students. Kate is dedicated to the healing capacity of art in the life of others. She currently lives in San Miguel de Allende with her family.
